SoloBooster FAQ/Technical Requirements: IF YOUR AMPLIFIER DOES NOT HAVE AN EFFECTS LOOP, YOU
CANNOT USE If you connect any signal boosting pedal between the guitar and the amplifier’s instrument input socket, it will just cause the amp’s distortion circuitry to be more or less distorted, not louder!! It’s just the same as varying your guitar's volume control. So it has to be placed in the Effects Loop after the distortion circuitry. This would be true of any make signal boosting pedal. We are asked all the time if SoloBooster will work with specific amps, but sadly we do not have knowledge of all (most) of them. Your instruction manual should provide some clues, hopefully. If not, please save time by asking your amplifier maker directly. SoloBooster requires an FX Loop that will drive a 10k ohms load - similar to most professional effects units. This is not, by any means, an unreasonable requirement. Therefore, SoloBooster has been designed to this standard and will work well with nearly all (most) modern amplifiers which employ solid state FX Loop designs. However, SoloBooster will not work with some pure 'valve' driven effects loops. Valves are weak and cannot drive modern ‘pro’ effects units too well. That's why most decent modern valve amps use solid state circuitry at this point. Solid state is superb for this kind of work, although the 'Toob Quacks' on the Internet would have you believe otherwise. You must have the right tools for the job, if you want modern compatibility, even with valve amps. Fortunately, most modern valve amps do have solid state FX Loops, but a few don’t. So please be sure before you order a SoloBooster. Ask your amp maker!!
