Session Factoids:

SESSION's first amp was the valve '15:30 Studio Combo' launched in
November 1979

Ahead of its time, the Celestion G12 65 equipped 15:30 had switchable 15 & 30 watts power scaling!

We still have No. 1 & 3. No. 2 was used as a test bed for R&D purposes and no longer exists

The 15:30 had a unique extra winding on the output transformer called a 'DI Output'. This output contained all the output stage distortion too and was used to drive SESSION's solid state PM:120 powered monitor system

Two 15:30's (one backup) and seven PM:120s fitted with EVM12L speakers were used by Martin Barre for Juthro Tull's 'Broadsword' album and worldwide tour

Geoff Whitehorn used a smaller system in the Elkie Brooks Band and recorded several of her hits using with it which including 'Knights In White Satin'

Customer's Sessionettes

Customer David Barnes recovered his Sessionette:75 in the attractive Burgundy Python vinyl cloth. We thimk it looks rather sophisticated!

A really nice small footprint 2x 12" Sessionette made by Phil Peake, Peterborough.
Interestingly, putting speakers in a vertical line like this creates an acoustic lens
which spreads the sound horizontally across the stage

I've attached a couple of pics of the Sessionette which I had Retrotoned back in November. I used ivory leatherette from Dunlem Mill, Fender Oxblood grille cloth, a Fender handle and Maplin corners: John Meyrick, Nottingham

Come on guys... fit the SESSION badge! Looks like it's RetroToned too (ebay pics).
Or did the owner want it to look like a Cornford?

Right: A 2 x 12" Sessionette pimped to 'M' livery. Spotted on ebay! Needs a badge!

Stewart covered these three amps himself. They were auctioned at The London Music Show and the proceeds donated to Childline. At that time, 1985, we developed a new way to cover amplifiers using spray guns and contact adhesive... It was very experimental. Now, this is the default method by most amp makers and hobbyists!

Session Factoids:

The first Sessionette:75 was sold in April 1981.

The switch to transistor amplifiers was because Stewart Ward became disenchanted with the reliability of valves

The name Sessionette was adopted after Charlie Chandler saw the prototype and exclaimed "It's a Sessionette!" The earlier Session valve amps had been a lot bigger

Stewart still has Sessionette No. 1 - S/N 75001

Geoff Whitehorn had the first two pre-production Sessionettes and used them on a session to record the guitar parts in Billy Ocean's 'Lover Boy' hit and album.

Eric Clapton recorded his 'August' album using two Rockette:30 amps

You can hear Sessionettes on most of the Eurythmics hit singles from the nineteen-eighties too.

Here Comes The Rain

This instantly recognisable opening guitar chord was allegedly recorded by Dave Stewart in a Paris hotel bathroom using his Sessionette:75

Most of the Genesis hits were also recorded using Sessionette:75s. Mike Rutherfor had seven which we regularly serviced!
