Recommended Reverb Unit: Accutronics type:
9EB2C1B (3 spring/long)
8EB2C1B (3 spring/short) As fitted to the Fender Blues Junior
1EB2C1B (2 spring/short)
4EB2C1B (2 spring/long)
You must use ONLY the types listed above or
permanent damage or undesirable performnce might occur
Direct equivalent TAD or MOD makes ARE acceptable
Check that the length of the reverb pan will fit inside your amp cabinet before ordering! It MUST have the electrical and orientational specs EXACTLY as quoted!
The above reverb pans are designed to mount open side down ONLY, otherwise undesirable distortions and rattles might be heard!
The newer (Black) Accutronics Reverb pans made in Korea, sound much better than the older American made units! These units (like ours) has a much richer Hall reverb sound!
We never recommend speakers... our taste is probably different to yours! However, here are some guidelines:
Eminence 75W Legend 1258 (per our sample in the video) - a nice tight 'all-round' tone. Authoritative, but not thin at the very top end
Its spec is the same as the Fender 12" unit which has the Fender brown-gold label on the magnet. These are fitted to MKI & II Blues Juniors, Blues Deluxe, Hotrod, Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and many other Fender amps.
We have a Fender 'Lightning Bolt' speaker... but we found it a little dull (subjective)
Eminence Legend 1218 150W
This is a lovely round & warm sounding speaker with a nice treble top end, ideal for guitarists who play a lot of cleanish chords on a Strat!
We much prefer this over the 'Lightning Bolt' (subjective)
Eminence Canabis Rex - Has a heavy hemp cone for a warmer 'rounded' old school tone. Not very bright!
Eminence Red White & Blues - 'woody' toned, a half way house between the Legend 1258 and the Canabis Rex
Celestion G12 25 GreenBack - that classic 'woody' tone made famous by Paul Kossoff!
Celestion G12 80 (Classic Lead) - A great efficient all-round speaker with more high end definition than the Eminence models mentioned
NOT suggested!
Celestion Vintage 30, Celestion Blue or Celestion Gold - Not good with distortion in a small cabinet!
Jensen P12R, C12R, P10R or C10R
All of the above are either too thin sounding or not able to handle the power
Total combined impedance must NOT be lower than 8 ohms
Do not mix impedances in a two or four speaker cabinet
There is no way to change the impedance of ANY speaker or rewire a single speaker cabinet to make it a different impedance!
